Understanding music provides an enduring basis of HomemFkmg enjoyment and pleasure and a hroader understanding of modern culture. MUSIC The homemaking department offers courses in child development, Library social relations, home furnishings, clothing selection and construction, and foods. The departments newest addition is the boys' chef class for boys wishing to learn some phases of homemalcing. It is wise to schedule as many commercial subjects as possible during the last semesters of high school so that one's skills will be fresh when he enters the business world. A special feature of the department is the plastics course. The fine arts department courses are designed to develop an under- standing and appreciation of the arts, from basic principles of design and color to specialized phases such as fashion illustration and water colors.
