l 'l 'l 'l'-I-'I People from all over the country come The heart of the schools activity is in a to visit ultra-modern North Central. half-moon shaped Student Center. We review our progress and find that we have advanced Three years ago, in September, 1956, North Cen- tral opened its doors. Since then progress has been made by giant steps rather than by a normal progres- sion over a period of years. In fact, administration, faculty, and parents can look back on these three years with pride in their accomplishments. In this short period of time, a building constructed of steel, bricks, and stone has acquired a personality - for a building comes to life through the people who are housed in it, and through the history and traditions that become a part of it. The student body has become ardent boosters of North Central. Faculty and administration are joined in the common goal of building instructional levels to meet the modern requirements of a space age. Parents are molded into a powerful unit that provides a solid backing, financially and spiritually, for the new school. Enrollment has zoomed from an original Hgure of 1083 to 1385 in these three years, as families attracted by the ideals and objectives of the new school moved into the community. In January, 1959, an article ap- peared in a local newspaper, stating that it would soon be necessary either to build a new school in the town- ship or add on to the present one. Such rapid expansion had not been foreseen originally. Even before American schools became spurred to im- prove and strengthen their own requirements as a re- sult of Russia's much publicized stiff educational pro- gram, North Central had established a high standard of scholarship. From the beginning, college level classes were in- cluded in the curriculum.
