The stairway platform was ideal for an orchestra, and even With- out decorations the Center was a beautiful setting. Community events were part of that year, also, for parents were so anxious to see the new building, an open house had to be arranged as soon as possible. Chili and pancake suppers went into the book of memories, and parents were willing helpers at these money-making events. School programs were a thrill to remember, for each was the first of its kind in the history of the school. Babs Freeland, serving as hostess on opening day, welcomed Butch Gaddis and Judy Horst upon their arrival at the new school. Sweethearts danced in a valentine setting on February 9.
