Peqpormance Goals Highlighted by Faculty Starting the year with another new principal wasn't as hard on the faculty as it might have been in other years, since the only other new face greeting the students in August was Jane Hill, who had been added on a half-day basis to keep up with the larger number of students in the home economics program. With some experience at N.C. behind them, teachers faced the new school year with a new principal and a new requirement- choosing a specific performance objective to work on in their growth as professionals in the N.C. schools. Almost as soon as school began, so did membership drive efforts for the teachers, association, with high school English teacher, Shirley Penner, stepping into the duties as president. Sports and clubs kept several teachers busy as coaches and advisors, some beginning this work even before the school year officially opened. Throughout the year there were several non-classroom activities which added to the relationship between the faculty and students, including the senior-faculty basketball game fwon by the facultyj and the participation of some faculty members in the more hilarious activities of the Home and Products' Show. Phyllis. however. will be staying in the system at the beginning of next term to break in the new superintendent. Darlene Bandeen continued to break in new vrincipals as she served as secretary to the high school principal under her third boss in four years. Darlene also nanaged to keep the class and club financial records up to date as well as brighten the day with her informative nd sometimes interesting announcement sheet. Jo Clark served in a similar capacity as secretary to thejunior iigh and elementary principal. She also was called on throughout the year to share her talent for writing poetry with NC employees as several were honored with retirement dinners and other get-togethers. ,I
