D0 NC Students Ever G0 Home? Who said once school is out students go home and watch T.V.'? Or that teachers were always busy grading papers? Whoever it was must not have been a great scholar because that's not the way things happened around ol' N.C.H.S. At 2:47. the bell rang and lockers slammed as the cement outside felt the stampede of roughly 200 pair of running feet. Now. granted, some of those feet - along with their bodies - went home and watched T.V. As was mentioned in previous pages. others had some sports practice or contest. Still others went to work. Then there were those who stayed after school for some reason - pep club met on Thursdays making signs and messes tonly the latter weren't usually plannedj. They also decorated for awards programs. Student council and thejunior class could also be found making and putting up decorations for the homecoming and the prom. respectively. Other groups such as library club and photography club met after school. as did the yearbook staff. occasionally. Write-ups. layouts and pictures being developed for uh. ruinedl in the darkroom made deadlines interesting. Playing chess and talking to teachers were also among the voluntary pastimes. while detention was rather involuntary. School was out. but the building wasn't empty. It may have been quiet for a few seconds: then it was time for nighttime activities. sim

i y ff im.. if f Girls Set Pace in Spring Spring brought disappointment for the baseball. Rain cancelled many games and an ice storm cancelled a spring trip to Cincinnati. Only 13 games were played and the JV's had more games cancelled than they played. Varsity season record was 8-5. Todd Martin had both the highest batting average and the lowest ERA, was named to the BBC second team and pitched for the Northwest Ohio Coach's All Star game. Todd also got the Eagle Award. Dave Rutledge was named to BBC second team. Girls track fared the best of the spring sports. with Teresa Brown and Diane Bible pacing the team. The team placed 5th in the Blade Relays and 6th in Sectionals. Eagle Award went to Jill Deetz. Monica Lanius got Most Improved. Boys track consisted of many first year runners, so hopes for the future are high. Dennis Dohm got the award for the Most Promising and Brad Keough, for Most Improved. For the first year most track meets including sectionals and district were co-ed.
