lpredidlenf This past year of 1949-1950 has been Dr. C. Harve Geiger's Fourth year as President of North Central College. Since he took ohlice the same year the class of 1950 entered college, the half century class claimed him this year as a senior and one ofthem. Fortunately Pres.Geigerwill notgraduate and leave North Central but he has worn a blaclc derby this' past year which made him distinctly asenior. ln 1922 Dr. Geiger received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago, in 1928 his Master of Arts degree from Harvard University, and in 1940 his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Columbia University. He also studied at Manchester College, North Manchester, indiana. His experience as a leader in the Field of education was gained while he was Acting President and Dean of Coe College, Cedar Rapids, iowa. A His extensive travels through the Mid-west delivering addresses for many civic and educational groups and churches have served to focus attention on North Central and to encourage additional students. President Geiger's calm and dignified manner has assured many a troubled student and faculty member. He has proved a helpful and understanding president For North Central College. 8

0I QlfU0l HE Class of 1950 has secured the services of HN. C. Carclinali' to cast his proud eye over the vast domain of North Central College, and present to you, the Student Body, an accurate account of his observation. The Editors must admit they were rather nervous as they approached this refined and dignified bird who will not even stoop to soil his feet by walking on the ground. However, they dropped their democratic pride, accepted his superiority, and treated him with humble respect. NC, was perched on the Senior Circle taking full advantage of the warm sun. l'lis brilliant colors made us aware of our drab appearance, his poise caused us to seem miserably awkward. As he saw us approaching he commenced with a strong, rich whistle, like the high notes ofa fife, Ucheo-cheo-cheo-cheo, repeated over and over as if to make perfect the start of the song he is about to sing, suddenly he stopped, and we found that there was to be no glorious performance after all, only a prelude to nothing. As we talked to Red we realized that he wasn't actually such a bad old bird after all. l'le told us how he had watched N.C.C. for countless years. l'low he had witnessed laughter as well as tears. We uttered a sigh of grateful relief as he agreed to make a tour of our campus. With a nod of his bright head he spread his luxuriously red wings and took off to begin his research on N.C.C. The Spectrum Staff has faithfully recorded every detail that Mr. Cardinal has supplied. The Senior Class proudly presents, A Bird's Eye View of North Central College. The Editors 7
