Student Council The Social Committee of the Student Council was composed exclusively ot seniors from the various homerooms. lt planned and worked the monthly dances, the dances atter the basketball games, the Senior Party, and the Senior Prom. Greater attendance at all these events bespoke their success. Many an hour was spent in discussing and planning the enter- tainment, the refreshments, the decorations. Very many hours vvere spent in decoraing the gym, always with a different touch, under Brother John Keegan's inspiration. Furthermore, many hours were given to proper amplification ot sound under Brother Charles Gausling's direction. The Student Council, comprised of representa- tives from the homerooms and various activities, con- stantly strove toward its goal-an ever better school. The council met every other week. The service ot the council consisted of positive actions, some being deti- nite single items, but much ot its work was moral support and leadership in the various school activities. Outstanding achievements were: the exchange stu- dent program, the operation of the school bank, dances after basketball games, recognition of out- standing student leaders, chartered busses tor the games, Monogram Day, and better attendance at chapel services. The purpose of the Mission Honor Society was to complement the Catholic education ot the students by prayer and sacrifice for the Missions and by the study ot the Missions throughout the world, thereby inculcating and strengthening in its members the Mission Spirit which Pope Pius XII held to be the true Catholic spirit. The weekly meetings were conducted under the lead- ership ot Thomas Steiner, President, Kenneth Strasser, Vice-President, Francis Hanley, Secretary, and John Brungo, Treasurer. Mission Honor With a spirit ot self-sacrifice and a devotion to the service of God at Mass, the students who belonged to the Knights ofthe Altar served their purpose well. They ren- dered service at student retreats, the various Sodality tunc- tions, and the eight o'clock student Mass. Moderated by Brother John Dahm, S.M., the students learned to appreci- ate the Mass and its importance in their daily lives. .,
