Baumeister, S.M. llnsparmgly Devoted to llur Assistance When we, as starry-eyed freshmen, first entered the marble hallways of North Catholic, our timid natures were appalled by the stateliness and appar- ent aloofness of those men whom we, fresh with a remembrance of grade school servility, regarded only as teachers and disciplinarians. It did not take long to discover, however, that the men in black, with their lay associates, were not the cold, distant individuals that our first impression seemed to indicate. Much to our surprise and delight we discovered that they were not only our teachers, that they relied on personal honor rather than strict discipline, and that they were, above all, our friends, reassuring us in times of adversity, giving unsparingly of their time and talents to assist us in our studies, to insure the success of our student activities.
