Then we heard of them on the Hornet, the Pennsyl- vania and on L.S.T.'s . . . Our Boys! Short months or years ago they roamed our halls, worked at our desks, played on our court and field, laughed, joked and sang, and side by side with us they pledged allegiance to the Stars and Stripes! Hundreds went out to the far parts of the earth to fight for us, that we and they, and others of our kind may keep on laughing and playing, working and singing as in times past, and that we still may pledge allegiance to the some flag as before. We like to think that on some far off field or sea, there is a part of North Catholic. For surely, each took something of this school when he departed. And we believe that what each took was something good, and that in those moments that come to all, when flashes of the past bring glimpses of things that are loved, these boys think of North Catholic, ofthe truths and ideals they learned here, and they find strength and vision for the hard days ahead.
