'll The creation of our Chapel A place. On February 25, 1982, ground was broken for the Leon Russell Chapel. Standing as a tribute to the dedication and service of one who was a founder and trustee of the college in its early years, the chapel will be completed by Fall Term 1983. This new facility includes a space adaptable to a variety of worship settings, a reception room, an office for the campus minister, and the Rena Perry Blackburn Prayer Room. Sliding glass panels open to a courtyard bordered by a pierced brick wall. A center. Standing apart from other campus buildings, the chapel will be the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace earnestly desired and sought as qualities of campus life. Its purpose is to be a vital center where the word of God is so read and preached and the sacraments so administered that attitudes and values are molded and lives are transformed. lt is intended to be the source from which flows inspired and appropriate Christian witness. An experience. As the center for religious activities, the chapel will provide experiences through which students may participate in the corporate life of the church along with the personal and private expressions of faith. Students and all others of the campus community may come to pause and pray, to meditate on meanings and feelings, to discuss and shareg all will have the opportunity to experience the grace of God and celebrate life as it is revealed in Christ.
