A nietic ulnus scholar, lack Teagarden drives hinisell hard but is gentle with his students. He never appears in class unprepared, never slights his duty to his students, goes the extra mile to see that everyone under- stands the concepts he presents and spends endless hours correcting pa- pers with minute, helpful comments, Allen lohnson, who tear hes with him, and is taught by him, is his most en- thusiastic fan. He would have been a very successful mission- ary since he has the ability to prove the worth of most anything. He has several times sold me on an idea . . . and he did it through his ability to lay out the logic and then, convince me it was right. Perhaps he should have been a salesman. Sim Wilde-perhaps the hardest working member of the faculty. Bruce Van Blarcum-So enthusiastic and hard working he makes me feel old! Edward Brandt Biology lohn Davis has got to be one of the friendliest men on this campus! He doesn't seem to choose his friends which seem to include EVERYBODY. His tremendous assets as a musician and teacher include many fine quali- ties often found in others, but only rarely so concentrated in the same individual. 26 Michael Pratt Physical Education Henry Funderburk is a professional educator in that he is well informed and strives to keep abreast with trends and changes. Vance Mizelle-always speaks with his heart in his mouthl Richard Kagey-Good humor raised to the level of the sublime. David lones-The boy wonder. Allen johnson-Intellect can be graceful. lane Ranney-Ray's wife. Edgar Stryker-He is not a reticent man, but neither does he trumpet his opinions and attitudes. He brings to mind such adjectives as honest, forthright and dependable. Bruce Van Blarcum Theater Usually raconteurs are vapid outside the realm of jokes: Corbitt Rushing is the exception . . . He has perspective not only upon the unexpected fthe basis of much of his humorj but upon statesmancraft, politics, history, and law. ln addition, he probably reads more of all kinds of things than any other faculty member. Try him, you'll like him. And listen for his guffaws at movies with little redeeming social value. Helen Matthews Education Edward Hester-Serious, intense good-humored, down to earth. There is no drop-add in the game of life. 28 ,fa- Mack Sturgill-One of the most con- sistently comfortable human beings alive. I could talk to him endlessly. His sense of balance is one ofthe things I greatly admire in him. David jones-The man with whom I would most like to tour the Mojave Desert. He would, needless to say, have plenty to talk about, and it all would be interesting. Rexford Tucker-A ready wit-you might say a punsumate conster. 'HIE IQ ' Q. fx Arthur McCoy Music Edward Brandt-You should watch him playing with his kids-it's neat! Vance Mizelle-A rare talent that needs a better showcase. l would use him in a PR capacity-actor, singer, di- rector, and lecturer. Edward Wiltrakis-A minority man with a majority of virtues. Henry Funderburk-is a concerned educator, dedicated to high standards in teacher education and to ex- cellence in elementary education. Lionel Bishop Mathematics George Armstrong-A fascinating person to talk to on any subject. Ray Brackett-Often times misjudged, but one who truly has the very best interest of this school at heart.
