MEP Dr. Raymond Bauer, Acting Academic Dean and Director of Athletics educational growth and development of the college, that he and his associ- ates arrange for adequate financial support and still find time to dream great dreams for the college and then share excitement of that dream with the campus so that it may come true. The position of acting academic dean has afforded me some new insights into the world of a college program. lt's one thing to be a faculty person but it's quite different when it comes to the operation of an entire faculty as well as the student body. The Dean of Students isp at various times, a sheriff, psychiatrist, janitor, executioner, target, intermediary, ad- visor, counselor, peacemaker, admin- istrator, and friend. Often the greatest rewards are not realized until months or years later when former students return to the campus as parents, busi- nessmen, teachers, lawyers, dentists- as mature, responsible, concerned, and contributing members of society. That's when you recognize what this business of higher education should really be about. Floyd Sawyer, Comptroller As the chief financial officer of a small liberal arts college my main pleasure is working with students and their fi- nancial problems. I also enjoy seeing students mature during their stay at Wesleyan and I particularly delight in seeing them graduate. x w Robert Maxwell, Dean of Students was 2 yawn an f we' ww 1 A 3 3, ,Hit 3f,g,fym,a,a.,?g56sln+a'artetv- 4-fm wzwvmmwwm-mmm-w. 1, mimi? ia 'L' ' ' . 1' N -E, 'FF ,ts - Q' - ' I ' 1-'.'-'rpg H ,' 'i.-if- '. .i ' lfR,-.,1':g5t1,t51'w1:-yy'-E :nt-wtnfatr'i 'fri':-? .j,,ge-f,,,1Y--5,'-72,3'+:,1Q-'glijiiy'',2j'1'j,155',-'j-,igi ij 11 Hp: - I V - --, L ti Qu, . tv. -1 .:' -.,-, 1 V' -,- T. .H ff, 1 , . tt -qs, f, . - A '--1 - -.f'-w- ' .f .,p f .v . gm, -, .- - ie .' t.. 1: .Je -- t w . . a e- 1 - . ,. . -.J-tn.--if .zrzr , , The tasks of the office of the Dean of Students are many. They range from taking care ot honors, assisting in printing the Bishops L.A.W., and su- pervising orientation, to helping new students in adjusting to campus life. I feel however, that the students' great- est need is filled by the little things that we do. This job entails more than helping students take advantage of what Wesleyan offers academically, it involves providing an atmosphere in which students can learn more about living with their fellow men, thereby finding their niche in life. I' , by s 14:1 Sarah Alexander, Assistant Dean of Students gt. X it - --,4 tar 4 fi ef Q ll William Carlow, Registrar and Director of Admissions As Director of Student Aid I have to file appropriate applications and re- ports to agencies such as the federal government who supply a majority of student aid. And l feel that the job and what I do is important because about 35120 of our students are receiv- ing financial aid and most of these students would not be able to attend without it. As director of placement I think we are providing some good, current, and usable information in jobs and post-educational material for our own students, And l'm some- what disappointed by the lack of par- ticipation by the majority of seniors. XL As Registrar and Director of Admis- sions my relationship with students begins before they enter Wesleyan and usually does not end when they leave or graduate. Even though this causes my role to be very broad in nature I feel that service to the stu- dent is my most important function. .vii TTT . - lt -L p U li Qi Alvin Horne, Director of Financial Aid DY- l0S9Ph M3CPh9f50f'- Uhfaflfm I9 'c '- -:r'.- .e 'f W' - A - , . - .. - . . .
