MEP Dr. Raymond Bauer, Acting Academic Dean and Director of Athletics educational growth and development of the college, that he and his associ- ates arrange for adequate financial support and still find time to dream great dreams for the college and then share excitement of that dream with the campus so that it may come true. The position of acting academic dean has afforded me some new insights into the world of a college program. lt's one thing to be a faculty person but it's quite different when it comes to the operation of an entire faculty as well as the student body. The Dean of Students isp at various times, a sheriff, psychiatrist, janitor, executioner, target, intermediary, ad- visor, counselor, peacemaker, admin- istrator, and friend. Often the greatest rewards are not realized until months or years later when former students return to the campus as parents, busi- nessmen, teachers, lawyers, dentists- as mature, responsible, concerned, and contributing members of society. That's when you recognize what this business of higher education should really be about.
