As the state is divided into three distinctive physical regions, the Western, the Piedmont, and the Coastal Plain, so do its occupations tend to group themselves into three areas: in the West, forestry; in the Piedmont, industries; in the Coastal Plain, There is overlapping, of course; but one thinks of these areas first. Our theme in the yearbook is the State and the college. We have tried to locate the schools in the geographical area which they represent in industry and in the life of the State. And we have divided the school ' s activities into the three seasons: Fall, and its riot of color in the mountains; Winter, and the hum of industry in the Piedmont; Spring, and the blossoming of agriculture in the Coastal Plain. As you travel through the beautiful Tar Heel State, whether you are in Murphy, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, or Wilmington or any other city, however large or small, there is one fact that you cannot help noticing; the influence of North Carolina State College. It is felt in some respect by every person in North Carolina, and that is true whether the person is a forester in the Mountains, an industrial worker in the Piedmont, or a farmer in the Coastal Plains. And it is true in the broadest sense, the campus of North Carolina State College extends through its services, to the boundaries of the state and beyond into the whole southern region.
