while all this time accent on music After marching across the gridiron turf during the football season, the members of State ' s band switched to indoor music in the winter and spring quarters and formed a concert band. With approximately 70 pieces, the band presented a concert during the winter quarter and played many popular classical pieces. The band is by Major C. D. Kutschinski. Music comes in varying degrees—here we see a small group of boys listening to soft music to complete the atmosphere in Normans ' —the Saturday Poker game. Now the director takes his magic wand to show the students just what the band can do. The band breaks loose on one of those foot-patting tunes before the group who come to see STATE prove itself once more as a leader. All during 1954 and 1955 Jimmie Capps (Our Best To You—W.P.T.F.) gave the students of State music to study by, listen to, and best of all music to remember. The 1955 AGROMECK salutes Jimmie Capps and Our Best To You as the outstanding program of its type for this year.

a new semester . After the most generous vacation (3 days) between exams, everyone returned to face the new semester. were griping about the semester being gated too fast, faculty about the students not studying, and the parents about their sons wasting money. The AGROMECK doesn ' t know who is responsible, but would like to go on record as saying that the semester system is for the birds. all part of an education .

The Dorm Champs From Beckton I 1954 Best All-Athlete Participation 1954 Sigma Chi Champs for Intramurals 1954 Outstanding Athletes of the year 1954 Dorm Athletics Commiittee Fraternity Athletic Committee many distinguished themselves in intramurals . . The intramural program at State is a very one. It gives the boys a chance to get out and get their minds away from their studies as well as develop their character. The programs are very competitive with each dorm in competition with the others. A champion from the dorm is as well as one from the Fraternities. Last year the champs were Becton I and Sigma Chi.
