It is hard to believe that they are no longer with us, these 255 State College men whom we call our war dead. Only yes- terday they were walking arm in arm with us on the campus, sitting next to us in our classes, drinking cokes with us at the Mop-Up. No, we do not see them any more, and we wonder. If they are dead, we know that they died to make possible the very life that we are now living. For this reason alone they must still be with us in spirit; and their memory must always be sacred. May every opening of this book serve to remind us of the great sacrifice that they have made and of our equally great responsibility to protect the fruits of this sacrifice.
