CHANGES Coming to NCSSM as a Junior, every- thing was new: new teachers, new ideas, new friends, new home. During our Junior year , we matured a lot. The new friends we made introduced new ideas, changed our perspective, and influenced our thinking. We came to love one another and the school that made it all possible. Our view of NCSSM was idealistic; we wanted life never to change. But when we returned as Seniors , older and wiser, we found that much had changed over the summer. There were new build- ings: the new dorm ( not quite finished) , the Carolina- Duke Motor Inn, 130 it ( that’s Watts Hall to you juniors). Second Bryan had become a girls’ hall, making Bryan the first co-ed dorm. Hill and Wyche were closed down, leaving behind only fond memories. The people we ex- pected to be here had scattered and in their places were anew Dean of Students, a new Assistant Principal, new faculty, staff and Resident Advisors. In addition, there were 300 new faces to learn — the largest Junior class ever. The entire per- sonality of the school had changed.
