OR! ENT A TION The Dormitory Assistants and the Student Council were briefed on leadership as they worked to get the dorms into shape. Orientation Committee prepared for dances and assemblies , readied bulletin boards about eats, churches, faculty pictures, and so forth. We met with Lynne Donges, Student Activities Coordinator , who helped us put together information packets in preparation for . . . Friday. The Seniors arrived. Even some of the faculty pitched in to help us do the hard work of moving in. The Senior Dance followed, in the basement of Wyche House, where the Class of X7 got reacquainted , rehashed old times, talked about how much things had changed, and won- dered what lay ahead. On Saturday, the 300- odd Juniors arrived. The Seniors pitched in for the moving , giving a diredior. here, a smile there. 12

Student Council Symposium Day Festivities Orientation continued with the helter-skelter mass confu- sion of the questionnaire- signing in front of Reynolds Courtyard , culminating in the first prize of throwing water balloons at the Student Council officers. The Director’s Ice- Cream Social was held on the Bryan lawn, providing yet another chance for, well, socializing. Mandatory Fun . . . Then there was the Big- Brother Big-Sister T-Shirt-Signing Dance, the Junior Bus Loop around Durham, the exemption testing , first dorm meetings and so forth and so on as we plunged headlong into the daily routine. Orientation almost forgotten. 13 J
