This is my home, the country where my heart is; This is my hope, my dream, my shrine. Oh, hear my song, Thou God of all the nations, A song of peace for their lands and mine. My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean, And sunlight shines on clover leaf and pine; But other lands have sunshine, too, and clover; And skies are sometimes blue as mine. Oh, hear my prayer, Thou God of all the nations A prayer of peace for their lands and mine.

To Mr. Harold Deuel We, the Class of 1971, are very proud to honor one of our outstanding teachers who has given much of his life, time, and energy to working toward the education of the deaf. He has been a classroom teacher, preparing most of his students for Gallaudet College. He also teaches us about life in general. He is very much involved in the athletic program of our school where he established the wrestling team in 1966. It is with great pleasure that we dedicate the 1971 edition of The Clock Tower to Mr. Harold Deuel. Mr. Devel went to the Missouri School for the Deaf prior to going to Gallaudet College where he received his B.A. degree in 1963. He met and married Miss Pat Ewing. They now have two children, Daisy and Wendy. Mr. Deuel taught at the South Carolina School for the Deaf before he came here. In his first year here, he taught general shop. Then he taught and is still teaching mathematical courses. He is President of the N.C.S.D. Unit of the North Carolina Association of Educators. He is assistant coach of the football team and head coach for the wrestling team. With great affection and pride, we give this special annual to you, Mr. Deuel.
