North Carolina Central University has a renowned religious history in the state of North Carolina and throughout the United States having been founded by a Baptist minister Rev, Dr. James Shepard. With this enriched background in religion. NCCU has continued the trend of keeping the spark alive. The United Campus Christian Ministry was organized to enhance religious life on campus for students. UCCM provides counseling one on one with problems that may arise concerning school, community, and personal issues Rev Dave Parham and Jennifer McGovern serve as the nucleus for this organization aiding students in any way possible Many organizations work with the United Campus Christian Ministries Student Advisory Council, among these are the Baptist Student Union, Penecostal Fellowship Organization, Westminster Fellowship. Chosen Generation. Lutheran Campus Ministry, Methodist Student Organization and Campus Crusade for Christ. The United Campus Christian Ministry provides Thanksgiving and Christ- mas services, forums concerning current social issues; Hunger Fast and Offering to help in local and international defeat of hunger, and is in the process of exploring new possibilities The Baptist Student Union and Penecostal Fellowship Organization serve as two of the student organizations evangelizing on campus These organizations formed choirs spreading the gospel through song as well as holding services at area churches encouraging student participation The other Campus Christian Orgnizations take part in holding meetings, hav- ing dinners, sponsoring religious films, holding campus revivals, and they join in together to provide Bible study once a week and encourages student participation Remembering the words of Jesus before his ascension, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations. these organizations concern themselves with enhancing the religious life on campus

We as college students should no longer question why op- pression, bigotry racism and ignorance exist. We should challenge these evils, iniqui- ties which have almost be- come norms. It ' s time for our voices to be heeded. Others have shown us the way. We have a duty. (Anthony Chiles)

Campus Christian Ministry Rev. Dave Parham Footprints One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of foot- prints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you ' d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don ' t under- stand why when I needed you most you would leave me. The Lord replied, My precious, precious child I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you. The Lord ' s Prayer Our Father which art in heav- en. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come tfiy will be done on earth, as it is in heav- en. Give us this day, our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debt- ors. Lead us not into tempta- tion, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen Jennifer McGovern
