FOUNDERS DAY NOVEMBER 6, 1982 I 9 I I 9 S 1 On November 6, 1982, North Carolina Central University celebrated it ' s Seventy-second founder ' s day. Dr. James E. Shepard in 1910 founded North Carolina Training School for negroes. Over the pass decades this small school has developed into a well known black institution, now known as North Carolina Central University. In the picture above several representatives from various organizations place flowers in memory of the late Dr. James E. Shepard. Sophomore Class President James Webb, Freshman Class President B ill i Barber, Dr. Saunders, Miss NCCU Lisa Brown, The Alumni Association. These people feel the importance of what Dr. Shepard was trying to do for his people. Miss North Carolina Central University 1981-1982, Miss Lisa Ann Brown, and Dr. Reid place flowers in front of Dr. Shepard ' s statue.
