THE STRUGGLE COMPLETE . ■ I ' TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE STRUGGLE COMPLETE In searching for a theme for the 1979 Eagle which represents the end of an era. we decided on the Student Gouemment Assoctattons ' theme for bright new beginnings. ' Together We Can Make the Struggle Complete This theme was composed and compnsed bi our astute student bod] president, Michael Howell. It IS a uen well timed theme, coming at a period when our school is up for reaccreditation. and the theme says practicallxj all that needs to be said about the attitude, we as the heart of this uniuersify must possess if our struggle is to become a successful one. Just what IS our struggle ' To remain a black university}. speaks Mike Howell, this uniuersit has gone from 98% to 89% black in the last jear. And it will take this student bodi; coming together as a mass to maintain our identity. In order for this student bodij to come together at all we must first communicate We must pass the word to get involved. We must pass the word through our controversial newspaper, remembenng we are the ones who made this newspaper We must pass the word through the standards and guidelines set fay the leaders we elect Leaders who like President Howell, informally! delegate instead of formally dictating their authority. Leaders who staff consists of anyone who feels the need to be or anyone who wants to be a part of. We must pass the word by mouth Until we ' re loud enough to get the radio station we richly deserve, and so dearly need. We are entering a new era. and in our struggle, a crucial stage And if the time you spend, at the place you grow means anything, you will lend a hand It will take us all. however: ' Together We Can Make The Struggle Complete Neal Bailey-Harper
