About 400 years to be exact. J remember last seeing her weeping in the tropical rainforest over the loss of her dear children, you and me. As her stature disappeared over the horizon I knew, 1 just knew that I would see her again. I remember how she used to come into our village to see that everyone had enough food, clothing and shelter and how she made oh so certain tliat no one was treated any better or with any more love than another. She was a beautiful lady. She was as tall as Mount Kilamanjaro, her smile was as wide as the Sahara, and her patience just as long. Yes, She was very loving and unfortunately this was the reason for her loss of millions of her children. Because of her loving and because of her trustworthy nature she took in a weary but most unworthy and deceptive traveler Who rapped her of her richness and beauty and relegated her to other human status. Stripped of all her goodness She fled- somewhere - who knows? I heard that she was getting herself together to return to Her lost children. Have you seen Her? Mother Africa - Have you seen Her? Dimmons A TRIBUTE Luther James Manning, Jr., known by his friends as Heade , was born in Greensboro, N. C, August 20, 1951. While attending James B. Dudley Senior High School in Greensboro, Heade was an active member in Project Upward Bound. After entering North Carolina Central University in 1970, he joined the University Touring Choir and became a member of Tau Phi Tau Fraternity on November 1 9 , 1 97 1 . Heade departed this life December 1 3 , 1 97 1 , as the result of a heart attack . If we must die, let it not be like hogs Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot.
