FOREWORD We, the 1954 senior class, have come face to face with a new and difficult problem. Our life at A. T. College is finished. But, in reality, our lives have just witnessed what we should consider the first rays of light — of knowledge — of experience. Never having faced the problem of retirement from an existence which never produced a dull moment, we are unable to express our mixed emotions — emotions that are torn between the desire to remain among school chums and the burning, nagging ambition to go out into the world and take our places among the people of various societies. Let us reminisce a moment. Since our arrival four years ago, what has taken place? Let me think — ah yes ! the big building boom has transformed the campus considerably; the Aggies were accepted into the N.C.A.A.; and in consecutive seasons the grid performers captured the C.LA.A. and national titles. What about the baseball record in shattering four straight championships? More important the members of this class have reached a sort of maturity, a bit more learning, a lot more experience. One thing is certain. Perhaps these four years have not been your best ones, but they certainly have been good ones. May this book, the 1954 Ayantee, serve to reveal flashes of life and the campus of A. T. College — life as it was lived by the class of ' 54.
