Coach Philip Allen comes to NCH from Dubberly where he won 5 District Champion- ships and a State Title. He led NC to a regular season record 16-8. Loyd Jeter is a returning starter. Last year as a Sopho- more he was an All-District Selection. He led the Rebels in scoring and rebounding with 16.9 points and 12.6 re- bounds. Bimbo Shane, a Junior and returning starter hit for a 13.3 point norm. His ball- handling and defensive play sparked the Rebs season. He was a 3rd team All-District selection. Larry Chandler a 5’10” Sophomore keyed the Rebels attack as he was the ball- handler. His point average of 8.0 was hindered by a mid- season injury. A Sophomore who spot start- ed was Gary Festavan. He also played a valuable role as a substitute. The Rebels got an unexpected boost this season from Senior transfer student Leo Gay. Leo, 6’1” tall provided extra re- bounding and his quickness was an asset on defense. Stevie O’Rear, another Senior, proved to be a valuable sub- stitute. Two free throws by Stevie iced the Northwood game, and a timely rebound preserved the Jesuit victory. oon The Goon Squad tradition was continued once again by the North Caddo High B-team. The “goons” were not able to defend their “Goon District Champion- ship,” however they supported the Varsity well. Terry Scaggs Bob Gray ¥ Charles McCormick The Goons survived the loss of Coach Thomas Mitchell and Super-Goon James Pyle. Coach Rich Floyd was the new Goon coach and Terry Scaggs and Stevie O’Rear filled in the Super- Goon position. Congratulations Goons!!! Charles Thornton Chandler goes up ... The thrill of victory . . . All a part of the drama Defense Rebs!! Jeter and Hartzo go after this errant rebound. 116 the agony of a seeming defeat of athletic competition . . . He was a man of peace ... He was a man of great professional ethics ... He was a scholar and a gentleman.” “ .. . His influence and the example he set will be with us forever.” “ ... His every action exalted integrity, honesty, dependability, and humility ... He was a ‘sermon to see’.” We, the REBEL STAFF feel that this loss to North Caddo is one that cannot be repaired. Since our words cannot express such a loss, we have recorded some of the quotations heard from students, faculty and administration during the memorial service, March 28, 1969. “Q xfpity tfem Gotf- ancfpity us a f wfo uainfy tfe ctreams of youtf recaff for of aff sacf words of tonyue or pen Ufe saddest are tfese it miyft faoe Seen! ” — tjo in S'.
