Our Coat Of Arms Our new Coat of Arms was designed and drawn by Tammy Matthews, a ’66 N. C. graduate. It was then adopted by the student body. It represents the many phases of student life that take place during the four years they spend in high school. The Charge on the Shield represents the Confederate Battle Flag of 1865 which is, also, the North Caddo High School Rebel Battle Flag used by the school from its founding day in 1955. This flag consist of thirteen stars running diagonal; seven stars running from the Dexter Chief Canton to the Sinister Canton of Base and seven stars running from the Sinister Chief Canton to the Dexter Canton of Base; the Fess Point being the center star. The Chief Honor Point of the shield holds the symbol “NC”, interlocking, which signifies the name of the school—North Caddo High School. In the Base Point is the lamp, a symbol of learning, of knowledge, of enlightenment, of eternity and everlasting; of foe to ignorance and superstition; of liberty and pursuit of human happiness; of humility and modesty of guidance. The Dexter Flank is Mercury’s Winged foot, the symbol of athletics; sportsman- ship; high ideas and ethics in competitive competition. The Sinister Flank is the lyre, which is the symbol of music, of fine arts: of appre- ciation; and of culture. The Crest overlooking the Shield is the mascot figure head of the ‘'Rebel Soldier” representing the chief confederacy. This signifies tradition in the deep South. To the school it represents the tradition and spirit of the fighting North Caddo High School Rebels. On each side of the rebel mascot, oak leaves representing the strength and integrity of the students who have gone through North Caddo High School. The founding date of North Caddo High School is 1955. Below the Base of the Shield is a motto ribbon with the Latin inscription that reads, “UNITAS—CONSOLIDATIO—EDUCATIO” translated it means “UNITY-CON- SOLIDATION—EDUCATION”. This inscription is the motto that North Caddo 2 High School students strive to live by in their days at school as well as on through life.

Dedication It is an honor to pay tribute to one who has become such a genu- ine part of North Caddo High School. Her interest in her stu- dents and her eagerness to help them have endeared her to all who have come under her influence. Be- cause she means so much to so many, we the Rebel Staff dedicate the 1967 REBEL to Mrs. Olga Williams. Left: Mrs. Williams gives scien- tific supervision. Right: Mrs. Williams lends a help- ing hand.
