OLA HICKS N.S.C.—B.A. Commerce Beginning shorthand students find this course, which deals with a variety of circles and lines, helps to become better adjusted to the business world. Commerce Beginning typists become fascinated with the fundamental principles of letter-writing, tabulation and the development of speed. MRS. LOUVESTA MELDER N.S.C.—B.S.; N.S.C.—M.A. HOMEMAKING TECHNIQUES PREPARE GIRLS FOR FUTURE MR. DON THORNTON LP.I.-B.A. Art Art students learn principles of design, ap- preciation, and the development of attitudes concerning art. Art students are exposed to art of past ages as well as the modern con- ception. The tantalizing odors that come from the homemaking cooking classes makes everyone wish she could take part in the eating of the products produced there. Eating is not all there is to a cooking class, however, the girls learn to plan well-balanced meals that have a high nutritional value, and planning and serving meals is a major part of the course.

McCLUGGAGE LS.U.-B.M. instrumental Music Frequent practices in instrumental sections improves per- formance and technique, which is a requirement for each person. Many composers and their works are studied in the classes. Practice is necessary for precision, control and ability to play in a group, so most class periods are used for playing. MR. BOB FERRINGTON N.S.C.—B.M.Ed. Choral Music In the vocal music classes, proper breath- ing to obtain clear atones is emphasized and a person must have good pitch and clear diction to sound well while singing. Vocal exercises are given during the warm-up per- iod each day. Taking Spanish at NCH does not stop with learning the language. In this class students ex- plore old legends and customs of Spanish-speak- ing countries. When a student leaves a Spanish class, he has acquired not only a knowledge of the Spanish language, but of the history, people, and the future of Spanish speaking nations. MRS. ELA MAE SPENCE E.T.S.C.—B.S.; E.T.S.C.-M.L.S. The library is a haven for those who want to enjoy a trip into space, ride a horse, or search for adventure by reading a book.
