The 1979-1980 Winter Track team had a fantastic season including winning the Bicentennial Athletic Conference Championships with a record of 6-1. They also won the small school title. Outstanding athletes on the track team were hurdler and high jumper Bob Beathea, sprinters Lloyd Mandel and Greg Gobel running the Vzand the 1X4 mile, Ken Riley running all of the long distance races, and Chet Weiss in the high jump. They also won the Bicentennia Athletic Conference Championships in a dramatic finish, when Senior Chuck Gaspari edged out his Highland Park opponent at the finish line, clinching his first place position in this race. The girls track team, led by Coac Cara, went undefeated this year. The girls Varsity track team consisted of shot-putter Vicki Albert, sprinter Missi Bern, hurdler Sue Schenkel, and Kathy Heinz and Chris Gromek running long distance.
