Listen To Every Word l Say 'Q X1-fats . vafaaa-W wg, . Second singles, Linda Sinuk, follows her forehand shot into net. The senior members of the varsity team: Sue Marguccio, Laurie Combos, and Helayne Sherman. The 1979 Girls Varsity tennis team once again had a winning season. The team's record was 16-4, they were invited to the state and county tournament, and they were named BAC Champs. The team, this year, had four members which were named to the BAC All-Star team: 1st singles-Jeanine Looney, 2nd singles-Linda Sinuk, and ist doubles-Sue Marguccio and Laurie Combos. The additional members of the team were 3rd singles-Margaret Haney and 2nd doubles-jackie Dann and Helayne Sherman. The coach of the team is Mrs. Joyce Lykes. Mrs. Lykes was also named BAC coach of the year. This year's captains were Laurie Combos and leanine Looney, and the departing seniors are Sue Marguccio, Laurie Combos and Helayne Sherman. -Q - M. We 're on the Move .g .X 1 si' at I .Q35RASza , Maria DiTorrice goes up for the basket as Theresa McGrath gets After the steal, Michelle Paftinos goes for the quick two points ready for the rebound. 186 Girls' Basketball After commenting on the Girls' Varsity Basketball season this year, Coach Frandsen smiled and said, Uwe had a young team. Posting a .500 mark, this years squad was a young and aggressive team with all five starters being underclassmen. The early season showed a slow start but their improvement was obvious after the scorebook revealed many close games with highly respected opponents. The game plan consisted of a strong defense and balanced scoring w ich gave the team its depth. Senior Cathy Hendricks was an important factor to the team's success because of her ability to play sixth man and handle her position well.' Coach Williston stressed learning and acquiring experience as the top priorities for the Girls junior Varsity Basketball Team. Thelpurpose of the JV squad is to develope skills and game strategy for the upcoming Varsity leve. The team shot their way to a .500 mark with the help of sophomores and freshmen.
