And Where We End Up The Freshman football team fights for every yard. Coached by Charles Young and joe Brzowski, the 1979 Freshman football team had a great season, sporting an 8-1 record. The team was led by quarterback joe Policastro. In the backfield were Mike Previte and Scott Mirinov. Previte was also the team leader in scoring. Other Key players on the team were Walt Gural, lay Fritche, Kevin Quish, Kevin Kriegal, Bob Cosgrove, jimmy Lewis, Kyle lackocks, Gary Mitchell, and Pete Hems. Deixler, R. Stasiak, l. Comparato, N. Marchetta. The goal of the North Brunswick cheerleaders was to lead the Raider fans in support for the Varsity and junior Varsity Football and Basketball teams. This year the cheerleaders fulfilled their goals throu h the spirited enthusiasm they displayed. Their tasks were made easier with the help of winnin Raider squadi. Under the direction of Ken Addone and Diane Markert, the cheerleaders showed their well developed talent and the well known sportsmanship, which gives North Brunswick teams fine reputation. Varsity captains Sue Meier, lackie Quinn, and Ruth Stasiak were chosen by the other cheerleaders to lead and direct the girls in their exciting routines throughout the seasons. Being a Raider cheerleader is a difficult, but enjoyable activity. Cheering at the games, making posters, and decorating the lockers were all included in the cheerleaders campaign to boost team morale. The football seasons differentiate from the basketball seasons for cheerleaders because a certain level of gymnastic ability must be reached in order to make the basketball cheering squad. The junior Varsity cheerleaders play an equally important role in supporting their team. lV cheerleaders were led by captains Annette Scaturo, Terry Pankyo, Carleen Steward, and Debbie Yates. j.V.
