FUTURE TEACHERS CF AMERICA i Mrs. Gussie Mapson is the advi- sor of the Future Teachers of America Club. The FTA is in- deed one of the oldest clubs in North Carolina education cir- cles. Of course, the objective of the club is to inspire young peo- ple to enter the field of educa- tion as future teachers. At North Brunswick, the FTA has been an active, thriving club since the school opened in 1972. The club functions like most others - electing a slate of offi- cers every year. And there are various projects carried out throughout the school year. Mrs. Mapson is always willing to give extra time to the club as exemplified by the photo taken in her cubicle.

CONCERT BAND FLAG CGRP The North Brunswick concert band and flag corp are integral parts of the overall music pro- gram. The flag corp performs in conjunction with the marching Scorpions. Director Gideon is shown with head majorette Andrea Perkins on page 73. Also shown is the concert band along with the flag corp. Mr. Gideon is shown leading the band during a per- formance in the gym. Candids of the Marching Scor- pions during- a football home game show that precision and teamwork are necessary for a superb performance.

YOUTH COU CIL +5 M C00 fs 6 QF 'VN Cllv' An effective way for students to speak out on political issues is through the youth council. The North Brunswick chapter was started last year. North's chapter is affiliated with the state youth council. Members of the youth council are eligible to participate on task forces at the state level. In the pictures on page 75, members are shown in the conference room. Youth council members are enthusiastic.
