MEMGRIU CARL DAVID DEVINEY CROSSING THE BAR Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out of the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark, For though from our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar. - Lord Tennyson

2506666 A MOST DIFFICULT JOB ell, the year is over and the last deadline was successfully met. All of my days of drawing layouts, cropping pictures and typ- ing copy are gone. Being editor of Scorpio '82 has been a very challenging and reward- ing experience as well as a lot of hard work. I am glad that I had the opportunity to take on such an ambitious task. Until someone actually sits in the editor's chair, they have no idea what publishing a 156-page book entails. SPECIAL THANKS TO . . . I would like to thank the people who have helped me so much to make this book the best ever at N.B.H.S. Mr. George Cox, thanks for your guidance and help. I could have never done it without you. Thank you, Wendy Horrell. It's amazing how much fun we've had doing so much work. Your time, ideas and friendship have Horrell been invaluable. Thank you, Donna Padgett, for taking care of the business end of things. A BOOK TO REMEMBER A very special thanks to Doug Hilburn for doing so much artwork. It was absolutely great and it made a lot of difference in the appearance of this book. I would also like to thank Mr. Marion Martin for going out of his way to help us with some of the photography . . . So here it is fellow students! I hope you like this book as much as I think you will. After all, it is a record of the 1981-82 school year. I think it may even mean more to the senior class of 1982, especially since this is our last year at North Brunswick High School. Farewell, my fellow students and friends. Farewell and good luck. This book is for you. frigid. WHAT IS A YEARBOOK? yearbook is theoretically a picture story of the school year. In practicality, however, it is not possible to include the entire year because of early deadlines. Traditionally, spring sports and events are not covered as closely because of this. Coordinating a yearbook is a full-time job. A budget must be prepared, a staff filled, a book designed, photography assignments made, fund- raising activities established and deadlines met. Whew! Now, thatis a job! THE SELECT FEW 'QAM As always, a select few of willing and dedicated workers got the job , M fg' '--. ---' done. The editor, Angela Butler, ' 'A - deserves mega praise! She is ,r multi-talented along with our art- e Q-'I' ' ist, Doug Hilburn, whose artwork ri throughtout this book is just su- perb. Wendy Horrell also spent a lot of time drawing layouts and running errands. And Donna Pad- gett did an excellent job handling the ad layouts and business end of things. STAFF DESERVES PRAISE Of course, the entire staff did a splendid job selling ads, posters and shirts. I believe Scorpio '82 is the finest yearbook in the history of Brunswick Coun- ty and these youngsters deserve the credit. Special thanks should be given to Mr. Marion Martin, photographer, and Mr. Harvey Monk, J0sten's Yearbook representative. These gentlemen spent quite a bit of time meeting with us after hours, answering countless questions and giving us excel- lent advice. I hope you enjoy Scorpio '82 as much as I and the staff enjoyed producing it. Here's hoping that it reflects the true spirit of North Brunswick High School. Hilburn 135
