It was then that the pupils from the three North Brook’s came together to form what is now the class of 51. After our first few days together, we settled down to the task of adding something new and useful to our volume of knowledge Is was with open minds and eager hearts that we entered into our Freshman year of High School. Under the guidance of our class president, Charles Godfrey, we ven- tured deeper into our various studies and successfully completed the required courses of that school year. Our home room teacher, Mr. Pendleton, informed us that the coming year would be our sophomore year. After a brief and well spent vacation we re-entered school to complete the second of the four stepping stones leading to our senior days. This year Mr. Childers was our home room teacher and Max Tallent was our class president. With the aid of our most patient and understanding teachers, we were able to complete our second year of high school. It was during our Junior year that we were faced with the responsibilities of being future leaders of North Brook High. So with this in mind, we began to pave the road for our final year. Among the most exciting events of the year was the presenting of the Junior Play entitled “Spring Fever.” On the night of May 12, 1950, we had the privilege of entertaining the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet. Under the direction of Mrs. Parker a very entertaining program, Hawaiian style, was given with Joan Lingerfelt as mistress of ceremonies. This colorful event went over with terrific success. We were all proud, indeed, to have the title of ‘Miss North Brook,” bestowed upon one of our Junior girls, Mary Beth Houser. Probably the most exciting and thrilling day of our Junior year was the day we received our class rings. We were thrilled to be able to wear this emblem of achievement. Finally, here at last, is the time for which we have been waiting so eagerly—the time of our senior days! Time passes quickly and the day of graduation will soon be here. It is with both joy and sorrow that we look on this day that is slowly but surely coming closer. During our senior year many things of much interest happened to us. There was the election of Class Officers. Norman Young was elected president. Probably the two most interesting events of the entire year were the Junior-Senior given in our honor on the night of April 27, 1951, here at the high school cafeteria, and the presenting of the Senior play entitled “Let Me Out of Here.” The Seniors of 751 have done an excellent job in publishing “The Babbling Brook” and “Le Souvenir.” Now that the day of graduation is so near we are saddened to find that after traveling the last few miles of our journey we will have finished our journey and will be separated forever. But upon reaching the goal for which we have been striving, we realize that our journey really has only begun for we are now at the gateway of life itself. We are grateful to North Brook and to her teachers for preparing us to start on our separate road and to attain a definite destination in life. It is with this feeling of gratitude that we venture into the world to make a name for ourselves and to be an honor and a credit to North Brook High School.
