BASKETBALL RECORD FOR 1948-1949 The Girls’ basketball team this year is, we believe, the best we have ever had here at North Brook. Displaying tremendous offensive and de- fensive power, combined with excellent team play, the Jayettes won twenty-four games and tied one. The team entered the two largest tourna- ments in this section of the state, the Western Gold Medal Tournament at Valdese, and the Tournament of Champions at Matthews, N. C. The Jayettes carried off top honors in both of these tournaments. Graduation will take away a number of girls who served well on the court; their spirit and loyalty remains to carry on with the Blue Jayettes. GIRLS’ GAMES OF THE SEASON North Brook....__.. Only one series was lost by the team dur- ing the season. Victory over Lincolnton, his- toric rival in basketball, was the high spot of the season. The personnel of the North Brook team was made up of every class in high school with Sophomores and Juniors in the majority. The record for the season was 12 victories and 8 defeats. The team showed a fine offense in every game and the team play was the pre- dominating factor.
