Ding-a-ling! rang the schocl bell on the day in July some twelve years ago. Along the roads to the three North Brooks came little tots that were to make the present senior class. Our hearts were filled with a mixed feeling of hap- piness and sorrow, to think we were old enough to start to school. We were then starting the training that was to be the basis for our lives. It took several weeks to become adjusted to school and acquainted with each other. Then we learned new games and enjoyed recess times very much. In the latter part of grammar school the boys began to take notice of the girls and the girls of the boys. They began the art of grabbing girls’ gloves or books and running with them. This was the beginning of our childhood romances. Starting with the ninth grade, our first year in high school, we put our play- things aside and really got down to work. We were faced with the responsibilities of being the ones who in the future were to be leaders of North Brook High. Our job was also to learn things that would help keep her great name shining. In our Junior year we began to pave the road to our final year in high school. Among the exciting events of that year were the Junior-Senior Banquet, where the girls for the first time wore evening dresses, and the presenting of the Junior Play. The red letter year of our lives, 1947, the fruit of twelve years of hard but pleasant labor, our Senior year! It was then that we, the dignified seniors, had the responsibility of leading the school and keeping her great name clean and raising it to a higher level; this the seniors have done. In the archives of dear old North Brook will go this outstanding year of 1947. As shown by the records, no other year has been any more successful. The Seniors of 47 have shown diligence and originality in sponsoring Le Souvenir and the Babbling Brook, our two school publications. They have expressed their dramatic art in the Senior Play, For Pete’s Sake. They were the backbone of the high flying basketball teams and athletic organizations and were leaders in the movement to revive school spirit and again bring athietic glory to North Brook High School. Thus as we don caps and gowns to receive our diplomas, we think with pride of our accomplishment, but our spirits are humbled by the mountainous tasks ahead of us. Our strength shall not fail, and we shall continue to build upon the founda- tion which we have laid. Fayre DrEpMoN, Class Historian.
