n Review—1963 Accused slayer of President Kennedy, Lee Oswald, was shot fatally before national TV audience. Right: Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy, Caroline and John, Jr. leave Washington for Christmas in Florida. With the assassination of John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts, youngest president in U.S. history, the country lost a highly-regarded and remarkably capable statesman and administrator. President DeGaulle of France, saluting, stands with German Chancellor Erhard, right, and President Lubke, as some heads of state gathered in tribute to the late President Kennedy. President Kennedy, and soon-to-be-retired, Ger- man Chancellor Adenauer met in Bonn during Kennedy’s successful ten-day tour of Western Europe. President Kennedy and then Vice-President Johnson (second from right) met with leaders of the August “March on Wash- ington” dramatizing the nation's leading domestic issue in 1963. Major Gordon Cooper received the Distinguished Service Medal from President Kennedy at the White House in May, following Cooper’s 22 orbit flight and manually controlled re-entry. 1964 BRONCONIAN NORTH BRANCH SENIOR HIGH NORTH BRANCH, MICHIGAN In Memoriam JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY May 29. 19 17--November 22, 1963 2 Foreword 1963-64! The first year in our new Senior High School. From the beginning in September, school life was new and wonderful, Classes took on a new meaning. This year has been full of discoveries in finding the joys of education in our new surroundings. We will be forever grateful. In this B RON CONI AN we have endeavored to show some of the moments we shared during this first year in the new Senior High School. From the morning when the doors awaited the entrance of some six hundred students, until the final bell at three thirty, the process of learning and sharing went on. Even then for many it was not over with practice and work in sports, drama, debate, experiments in the laboratory, club meetings, band practice and many other after school activities going on, learning and sharing continued. And so it went on throughout the year. Time out from studies for football, Homecoming, after game dances, the Junior-Senior Prom, Baccalaureate, and Commencement giving added pleasures 3 and highlights to this first year. The season got under way Friday evening. November 29, when the Broncos played host to the Kingston Cardinals. It also was the first victory with a score of 53 to 49. The next two games were also victorious for N.B. as they won from Bridgeport 71-69 and Ortonville 73-60. They lost the next three games to Deckerville, Port Huron St. Stevens, and Imlay City. The Broncos came alive again and won the next three games from Ortinville, Millington (in overtime) and Peck High. Then came the deciding game in the Bronco's season, the confer- ence game with Deckerville. This night and the next three games had the same results, losses to Romeo, Imlay City, and Bridgeport. The Broncos had one more conference game with Millington. Karl Krepps was the hero that night, as he shot a jump shot the last six seconds from twenty feet and, Swish! the game was over and N.B. had won. The '64 District Tournament was held in Vassar. During the first quarter of the game the Broncos were running wild as they held Vassar to a 17-15 lead. However, the rest of the game proved to be the downfall of N.B. We were beaten by a score of 71-62. This year the Broncos had four play- ers make all conference team. Ralph Margrif a senior, was chosen to be on the first team; Glenn Jamison, a junior was chosen to be on the second team; and honorable mention went to Dennis Bugg and Karl Krepps, both seniors.
