FQPFRIA 94 'I RIPLI: TRIO The trlple tr1o rs a vocal group under the cllrectlon of Mlss Irlene Athey The members came from the girls chorus and the mxxed chorus They practiced three hours a week durlng noon hours and after school worklng for 1m p oved tone quahty mtonatlon and dynamrcs Thrs year the Trlple Trlo made more publlc appearances than durmg any prevnous season They sang for church or ganrzanons clvxc groups servxce and womens clubs school programs the Christmas Choral Concert the Sprlng Choral Concert and the Drstrnct IVI1 src Festxval Contest The num bers uno for dxfferent programs mclude classical sem: clas s1cal and modern The members were Altos oy Emmett Frances Duryee Sallv lohnsen and Lots Durvee Second Sopranos Retta Prow ean Sandme Betty Burgey and Gerene Hamllton S pranos Laura Better-ton anet Berg Bonme Turner and Catherine Kennedy ADVANCED BAND The band this year conslsted of 61 members and 12 lcmds of instruments Through the football season the H1 Lights at the half were formations of many mterestnng subjects dlsplayed by lights on the caps The field bemg ln total darkness brought out the formatnons nn lighted rehef I' he band gave outdoor rallles for both Deweys and Stassens electron tours ln our cnty The Womens Eederatlon of clubs had thelr conventlon here xt was opened by the band The band plaved at Reedsport on an mvxtatlon to IDCIYC public mterest of s hool bands m that cltv The band helped to keep up tne morale during the bas ketball season The annual Spring Concert held March 11 was well re cewed Much enthusiasm was portrayed m Coquxlle at the county band contest which was held April 9 and 10 The music festlval of Coos County held ln Coos Bay May was the hnghlnght of the season O MIXED CHORLS Thxs year ns the fxrst year there has been a mlxed chorus as a class Although there were manv inexperienced students IH the b glnnmg of the year the chorus has progressed won derfullv They have sung at 'nanv school assembles bes1des thelr Sprmg Concert and partlcxpatmg ID the Spring Festlval The students m this class learn the fundamentals of mu src They have worked on many songs this year Including splrltuals and American folk songs and have practlced Slng mg a capella BEGINNERS CHORUS The Beginners Chorus rs composed of thxrty two fresh man and sophomore grrls who havent had too much musrcal trammg They parrxcxpate nn hohday assembhes and were m r e C hnstmas concer on December 18 and the sprmg concert Marcla 77 They are working for the musxc contest m Aprll 1l1 ofhcers of the chorus are presxdent Maxxne Llndros ucc reslclent anet Berg and secretary treasurer Catherme Kenn dy Thelr goal for the year m musnc IS tone quahty and mtonatlon The Begmners Chorus has had an enloyable and success ful year JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL CONCERT The choral groups from junior and semor hrgh school presented a varled choral program In the hugh school gym, March 29 There were numbers from the classical seml classxcal and modern fnelds of muslc Also some folk dances both European and Early Amerlcan were presented by some jumor high school glrls The groups whlch appeared mcluded a guest vlolmxst solos choral numbers and small ensembles The choral groups from hugh school were Mnred Chorus Girls Chorus Gxrls Triple Trno and Bovs Double uartet umor I-Ixgh was represent ed y thexr Gxrls Glee Club Boys Glee Club and Triple umtet There was also a speclal solo dance The students really enjoyed preparmg the concert Some of the numbers sung were also used for the Dlstrlct Festival Concert most of which were very dlfflcult but well done 'Ihe band deoxcts The Old Woman Who Lrves In a Shoe during half time entertalnment at a football game 'I ll ,.. ,. l 9 4- - . . , . , . , . . 4 ' ' 7 .. .. . . - - .
