1947 HESPERIA FIRST STRIING BASKETBALL CAPTAIN AND MANAGER Frorn Left Monk Fry Duane Peterson Bob Seplch, Paul Rose Bob Manager Ken Hess Captain, Monk Fry Hugh FRY played outstandmg basketball all season, his rd scoring and leaderslnp proved Vnc Adams Coach as me m At hns f1!'St season of compeutxon tn ba ketball SEPICH omplete surprise his rebound work -Coach Adams S was 3 C m PETERSON' S last season was hrs best -Coach Adams RQSE was the hardest worker on the squad and very valuable around the basket-' Coach Adams HUGH as a lumor leamed fast and should be a very good player next year-Coach Adams OUR BASKETBALL TRIP One Fnday mght Feb 28 1947 we had just fmxshed playing a hard game of basket ball at Reedsport Just as we were gettmg ready to take our showers Mr Adams came down and told us he had lust recewed a present from Santa Gaus and lf was five uckets saxd he could get only flve tickets enough for the fxrst stung of the ball team so the fxve flrst stnngers that got to go were Monk Fry Paul Rose, Bob Bob Hugh and Duane Peterson So on the next day at noon March 1 Mr Adams brought hrs car and pxcked up the fwe of us boys III front of the Stage Termmal tn North Bend It was about seven oclock when we got m and got our seats They were m a good place because we could see the floor qmte plamly There werent very many people when we got tn but by exght oclock the place was packed That was the hrs: college game most of us boys had ever seen so tt was very unter terestmg It was one of the fastest games I have ever' seen There were not very many shots taken at the basket and missed Both teams were good on thexr long shots as well as lag ms Both teams had a good, txght defense and a fast movmg offense In the last few rrunutes of the game Oregon State moved out ahead and won the game by a score of 67 to 59 - I I l 1 9 5 to the Oregon-Oregon State basketball game at McArthur court Eugene.
