The current year in many ways has been a most memorable one in the history ot the North Bay Teachers' College, The enrolment has been the largest since the session ot i933-34, at which period many teachers were reauired to return tor a second year ot training, The current enrolment is almost twice that ot the previous year, and is accounted tor, in part at least, by the additional courses now being ottered tor the tirst time in this Province. One such course is the Second Year ot the Two-YearCourse. When, over twenty years ago, a two-year course was given tor a tew years, the two years ot training were not consecutive, Our experience, during the past two years ot having a group ot students tor two successive years, has been most interesting and it is telt that this ex- periment has been very successtul and should be a permanent teature ot the teacher- training programme We are contident that these students will show by the calibre ot their worlf as teachers, the benetits ot the additional year ot training. Another innovation this year has been the admission ot the tirst group who have taken two summer courses and taught tor two years, These students have introduced an element ot maturity which has been ot great value to the whole student body. Their previous teaching experience has enabled them to realize the problems inherent in a teacher's work and they have made a sincere ettort to achieve the best possible prepar- ation tor again meeting those problems, This combination ot teaching experience and training will, we teel, enable these students to render very valuable service in the schools, The increased enrolment and changed courses has made many demands on the statt but this has been largely ottset by the tine co-operation given by the students in the many phases ot their training, Most students have made a commendable ettort to secure the maximum benetit tram the instruction ottered and have shown a remarkable growth in that maturity so necessary to those who will direct the tuture ot our next generation at citizens. The horse at the entire statt is, that every graduate will ever be mindtul ot the gre i.if 3 ripzparisibilities that will be theirs as teachers and that they will exercise wisdom ard tact iii the discharge at those duties, That all will meet with every success, is 'riccrc wrih at each member of the statti E C BEACOM
