North Bay Teachers' College Greetings to North Bay feachers' College So greatly does the tuture ot this country depend on the pre- paration at the teachers vvho are to instruct the pupils in the schools ot Ontario that our Teachers' Colleges occupy a large place in the planning ot the Department ot Education. You who are students in the North Bay Teachers' College are privileged to have, as l need scarcely remind you, instructors ot the highest calibre who are most conscientious in the discharge ot their duty tovvards you and who are also good examples whose atti- tuaes you may vvell emulate. There is such a shortage at elementary school teachers in Ontario, as in all English- speaking countries, that you are not likely to have any ditticulty in obtaining good posi- tions at excellent salaries When you sign a contract vvith a Board at Trustees you un- dertalfe a great responsibility because it then becomes your duty and your privilege to ex- ert every talent you have toward the production, by means ot education, at intelligent, right-thinking, public-spirited, loyal! and religious citizens vvho vvill take their places in a vert, tevv years as citizens ot the greatest and treest country in the vvhole world, the Dominion at Canada To do this you must stress the tundamentals in education, l-lard wort and competition cannot, as some seem to think, be taken out ot the schools as long as they are determining tactors tor success in lite You will vvork hard and your pupils ifvill wort hard but you vvill also have a good deal at tun and recreation and you vvill not Carnitine ,four activities solely to the school but vvill be useful citizens in the communities ri which ,lou serve You will have a great responsibilityy you are now preparing your- :elfes to assume that responsibility In that great endeavour you have my best vvishes ts' aburicant success -W, l, DUNLGP, Minister Ot Education.
