Six years ago Richard Harris became executive head of the North Baltimore Local School District. During his administrative tenure there have been many changes made. Among the changes were additions and or improvements in the science room, kindergarten, cafeteria, library, industrial arts, home economics, teachers’ lounges, administrative office changes, and various personnel have been added or vacancies filled. Also during this time much new equipment and furniture has been added as well as improved lighting, acoustical material, and such things as new drinking fountains, ventilators, etc. Besides material improvements, Mr. Harris administers with his eye on the fu- ture. His first thoughts are for Improved instruction, better materials with which teachers can work, harmony in his teaching staff, and is an inspired leader who gives new ideas, methods, and other innovations to this staff which should aid in helping each student. His attitude toward the teaching profession is of the highest caliber. He ad- vises, but does not insist that his teachers belong to the various educational associ- ations. His influence is felt throughout the county by other educators. Students and teachers have found in Mr. Harris a fine administrator, a good friend, and a man of high moral character. He is a well-known church and civic leader. His family, as with any man, comes first before education. This is the way it should be. It is to this type of man that we humbly dedicate this 1964 annual.
