1958 TIGER CO-EDITORS.............MARJORIE BUNDY AND ROBERT WYMER BUSINESS MANAGER.......MARTHA SEWELL Published by the 1958 Annual Staff of North Baltimore High School, North Baltimore, Ohio DEDICATION To our parents; to our teachers and class sponsors; to our superin tendent and to our principal; - to all those whom we love and who love us, we would dedicate this treasury of memories. Often we have been unappreciative of what you have done for us. We have not realized how you have helped us grow by your under- standing and patience. You have done much; we, little - but after many years are gone, we shall not forget. 2 ADMINISTRATION Mr. Meari R. Atkins came to North Baltimore last year as high school principal. He executes disciplinary duties, keeps attend- ance records, distributes report cards, is co-sponsor of the senior class, acts as official represent — ative of the school on various occasions and performs numerous other duties. He also teaches seventh grade science and biology. Mr. Atkins received his BA degree from Fairmont College and his ME degree from Bowling Green State University. For nine years he taught at Carey High School, where he was head of the coach- ing staff. Miss Clara Miller has been ele- mentary principal for nine years, and a popular figure in the school far longer. She directs the administration of the elementary school, is chief test administrator, and teaches geography. Beginning her career as an ele- mentary teacher, Miss Miller subsequently spent eight years teaching English and Ohio history in junior high school. She re- ceived her BS degree in elemen- tary education from Bowling Green State University and a degree in remedial reading from Chicago University. Mr. Sewell Cameron leaves our school this year as superintendent, completing four years of faithful service to the student body and faculty. In meeting with a large volume of widely differing prob- lems, he has striven to improve the school and community in every possible aspect. Mr. Cameron has been active in education for twenty-five years. He received his B.A. degree from Bowling Green State University. He obtained his M.A. from Miami University and took work at Indiana University. 4 LEFT to RIGHT: Dr. C. B. Nyce, Melvin Fleckner, Powers Luse, Delmont Brown, Elmore Smith, and Dr. Edwin Lloyd. Mrs. CHARLES LLOYD, office secretary, is kept quite busy with her seemingly endless duties. She balances all school records, takes care of all correspondence and finances, does all school bookkeeping, issues supplies to teachers, administers first aid, and takes over classes in emergencies. This year the school board hired Dr. Elva Lyon as guidance coun- sellor for the high school. Her primary duty is to aid eighth graders and seniors in making their future plans. Miss Lyon is a graduate of N.B.H.S. and Otterbein College. She has M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University and Ohio State respectively. She has served in varying capacities in education for many years and has traveled extensively in many parts of the country. At present she is a news correspondent for the Bowling Green SENTINEL and the North Baltimore NEWS. 5 ADMINISTRATIVE HELPERS STANDING: Linda Apple, Barbara Abbott, Sharon Roberts, Roberta McLaughlin, Mary Sewell, Iona Crouse, Phyllis Heminger. The other stewardess is waiting for me and I'll have to hurry. I hear you are working for the American Airlines. I like T.W.A. very much. On my last flight from New York to Paris, one of our passengers was, you guessed it, Bob Wymer. He's a well known surgeon now and was traveling to Paris to perform surgery on Guy Carlton. Guy broke his nose in the Boxing Championship. He won, so it was worth it. Margaret Kovach was with Bob. She's his private nurse and a good one at that. Judy Pelton wasn't along, but she's Bob's other helpful nurse. Bob, Margaret, and I got to talking about our old classmates and decided to have a reunion next year. I'll let you know about the time later. Bob and Margaret knew a lot about our classmates and here's what all they told me. There are just a few who have been married since graduation: they are: Mary and Roger; Margie and Jerry; Roxie and Dean; and Iona and Malcom. Few?? They are all very happy and have fine families, Margaret said. They said, Sharon R., Joyce E., and Roxie G. are all beauticians and each has their own little shop in Baltimore. They seem to be proving themselves quite worthy. Speaking of shops, Maxine R. and Shirley N. are owners of one of the best dress shops in Baltimore. Terry McGann is proprietor of the Bowling Alley. I didn't believe him when he said that was what he was going to do. Bill McKinnis is the meatcutter in Larry Krouse’ big Food Town. Jim Zeigler and Bob Swartz are partners in their Sohio Gas Station on the new Dixie. Butch Sterling and Tom Boney are also partners at Sterling's and Boney's Repair Shop in Baltimore. Just south of Baltimore there are three beautiful farms. Bob said David Apple was the owner of one, and Carl Meyer and Wayne Rush of the other two; and all three are still bachelors!! Merl Heaster and Francis Neier are both still in the army but they both married two lovely WAC's. Linda Apple, Janet Sweebe and Martha Sewell are all popular teachers in old N.B.H.S. Ed Kelly and Karl Haley got so involved in their jobs as geologists that they hired Keith Conrad as their accountant. 23 CLASS PROPHECY Well, that's all Margaret and Bob knew. By the time we got finished talking we had reached Paris, anyhow. As 1 was welcoming my new passengers aboard I had another surprise. Up the steps came Evonne Vanaman, Helen Sesok and Gloria Walter. They are all saleswomen now. Gee, I was glad to see them. Again we started talking about the class of 58. They told me that Jim Gerdeman is head of a big chemist plant in Philadelphia. Phyllis Heminger is his private secretary. Ron Rader is the messenger boy there also. When I arrived back in New York I bid good-bye to Evonne, Helen and Gloria. When walking down the street, up in big lights, I saw none other than Bill Parker's name. He is now both director and pro- ducer of broadway plays. I stopped in to see him and we had a lovely talk. I learned that Jay Dodge and Ted Bhaer are ushers in his theater. Also that Jon Myers and Ray Brumbaugh take care of the scenery and lighting during all the plays. Bill also told me that both Larry Andrews and Judson Trout are right here in New York. Larry's an engineer and Jud’s a lawyer. They are both very successful in their work. Whew, I'm just about all written out. I'll let you know when and where the class reunion will be held. We'll get a chance to talk some more then. I almost forgot one of our classmates, Tony Emahiser, you see, he's even one of the pilots on my plane. I guess the class of 58 didn't drift too far apart after graduation, did they. Hope we can all get together next year sometime. Love, Pam P.S.
