We hope that your meditations on school will call back delightful associations and gratifying achievements. May you be actuated in the years following graduation by the highest motives, may you deeply cherish the privileges of American citizenship, and may you enjoy the blessings of a peaceful and worthy civilization. Sewell Cameron, Superintendent Dear Seniors: In our educational process we are continually searching for ways and means to im- prove the standards of mankind and make his efforts of greater worth. Among the many traits and essentials which will further these goals are cooperation and diligence to the tasks at hand. This publication exemplifies and embodies to the fullest extent the re- sults of just and consistent labor, and shows the progress and growth of all those who have given of their time and effort that we might have a condensed record of the events of our school year. A school year, I believe, is only about as good as the Senior Class is willing to make it. This year, by all standards, has been an excellent year and the class of 1955 deserves a large measure of credit for the part played in making it so. In your scho- lastic efforts, your school spirit, your athletic endeavors, your willingness to cooperate and help others you have set a real example. Succeeding classes should and will profit from such an example as this. It is always difficult to say goodbye to friends, and so it is my earnest hope that each of you will come back and visit with us in the years to come. And as you commence the next phase in your lives may you continue toward your goals with the same enthu- siasm, the same diligence and the same high purpose that you have exhibited here in North Baltimore High School. Good luck and may God keep you. Sincerely, A. E. Stoner, Principal Sc uxol “S zsul Mrs. C. B. Kelley, Mr. R. J. Heckathorn, President; Dr. E. J. Lloyd, Vice President; Dr. W. A. Calderhead, Mr. M. J. But as the picture was taken, the diamond-tipped bit had just broken the world’s record. It was entering a brand new “classroom”—nearly 4 miles underground. The Ohio Oil Company had sent it there, at a cost of SI,500,000, to find out if there are new sources of oil waiting at depths never before explored. As these words are written, it is not yet known whether or not this well will ever produce any oil. But it’s sure to produce something even more im- portant: knowledge. New knowledge. And so long as we live in a country where indi- viduals and companies have the incentive to search for new knowledge ... to find the new way, the better way . . . this nation will continue to move forward. For progress comes from pioneering . . . from a constant search with minds and dollars ... to find what is waiting to be found. It comes from attending “classrooms” that are as vast as our own minds . . as big as our lifetimes. The OHIO OIL Company I love the homework the teachers give. Best Wishes The tests. I hate the pretty girls who flirt. for Your Success The pests! I’m never late to classes, nor take my cuts. 7Ae I do my homework faithfully. REPUBLICAN I’m nuts!
