2 Science Science helps one to answer the age old questions of how?,' and why? By studying Biology one examines and tries to understand the relationship between man and his environment. In Chemistry the com- position of important minerals and chemi- cals necessary for everyday life is explored. Through Physics important mechanical con- concepts of science become clear. Advanced Placement Biology was intro- duced in North Babylon High this year. Under the guidance of Mr. Smith, inter- ested students in this course study the chemical aspects of biology with the chance of securing college credit or special place- ment if they are successful. Mathematzcs Although brevity of space prevents us from cataloguing all that is excellent in the mathematics department, certainly typ- ical of its general high quality is the ad- vanced placement mathematics class con- ducted by department chairman Mr. Nicholas Ambrosiano. Begun in the tenth grade as an experimental class composed of students whose interest in math made them willing to meet every morning prior to the regular school day, the pres- ent advanced class is just one more ex- ample of North Babylon High School's determination to serye all students by pro- viding an enriched program whenever one is required.
