Volleyball lt is easy to acquire enough playing ability to enjoy volleyball, and many girls go out for this game during the school year. However, it takes much more time and practice to become proficient enough to be a part of an honor team. Intense practice on the part of our N.B. girls prepared them for the inter-scholastic meets. At these meets the girls were completely victorious. However, the playday held at Port Jefferson proved to be something of a disappointment. The let- down occurred after heating Brentwood and Sachem, for they were on the losing side of the records against West Islip. The scores were: N.B. vs. Brentwood N.B. vs. Sachem N.B. vs. West Islip 15- 0 15- 3 7 12 15- 1 15- 2 4- 6 l l l l

Last dribble was increased, allowing greater distances to be covered player. This year, however, the most progressive alteration was game i year tht by eacl initiate4 -roving players! Each team is allowed to have four players at a timi on half of the court. This replaces the former setup of three set forward and three set guards. Confusion can easily arise during playing tim concerning who will rove and who wonlt. The way the N.B. girls hav solved this dilemma is to assign two rovers before each game. who is a rover must be adept at sinking the shots and playing de Anyon fensively and must possess a great deal of endurance. The N.B. girls showed thei approval of the new game even at the start of the season when the easily defeated West Islip in two consecutive games. Much ability wa exhibited throughout the entire season, and it seems our girls ar with results of playing under revised rules. The girls focus their attention on Bliss Mullin as she gixes them a few pointers. e please
