Cindermen, Smash Six ohool Records Under the coaching of Mr. John Harmeling, the North Babylon Cindermen finished their second year of varsity competition with a winning season. Despite defeats rendered by Lindenhurst, Hunting- ton, and Port Jefferson, the Bulldogs had a league record of four wins and three losses and an overall record of five and three. The outstanding result of last year's season is the fact that new school records were set in all six field events. Frank Cannata tossed the shot forty-three feet, six inches. John Christman and Bob Pisano vaulted ten feet, six inches. Frank Le Mieux hurled the discus one hundred twenty-five feet, eleven inches. Mike Krauthamer broad jumped nineteen feet, sevena d dine half inches. With agloss of yrjve of its members, the team has high for the '63 season. The team's four best sprinters, Ron Emanuele, Mike Krauthamer, Jeff Moore, and Frank Quinane copped first place in the 880 yard relay races at the Suffolk County Relays with a time of one minute, thirty three point eight seconds. Tennis Opening its '62 season with strong determination and expert leadership from its capable coach, Miss Margaret lVlicciche, the North Babylon tennis team began its second year in Suffolk's strong A-1 league competition. Although inexperience limited the team's success, the netmen profited from facing their tough opponents. J im Costello and John Soika played outstanding doubles, winning nine out of thirteen matches. Relying on the performances of such netmen as Cassidy, Suga, Costello and Larsen and bolstered by increased interest and support, the team hopes for a better season in '63. l 4 Y Bob Cassidy demonstrates volley in good .lim Larsen waits for the serve.
