Football If one were to go only by the record, the '62 football season was again not a bit impressive. How- ever, if one were to examine it closely from the point of view of the function of high school sports, it was an outstanding success. Breakfast with Kelly did more than just nourish the pre-game appetites of an unusually large squad of high school gridmen. It transformed a prevailing sickly spirit into a vibrant and strong enthusiasm. UPSET was not only considered just a seasonal slogan but rather a driving force behind the team's efforts. It inspired co-captains Casazza and Pisano and also such seniors as Fleming, Wolfort, Iesaitis, Giglio and Moore to many agressive performances. Throughout the season the Bulldogs lost many close, hard-fought games, ending the season with such scores as 21-25, 14-27, 6-19, 14-18, against Sachem, Lindenhurst, Brentwood and West Islip. The '62 season will be remembered as the beginning of NB's determined fight in varsity football. Under the coaching of Mr. Roland Cartier the I.V. ended its season with one win, six losses and one tie. The season's victory was a shut out against West Islipg there were also other close games played against Port Jefferson, South Huntington and Sachem. The strong support from the juniors and sophomores makes next year's Varsity and J.V. prospects very bright.
