Many things do we greatly treasure: Our teachers in a great measure, The ideals that our school upholds, Our beloved colors, black and gold. Our triends that we'Il always remember, The opening ot school in September, Qur many exciting tootball games, By which our Alma Mater won much tame. 1 , wr r-ern The beginning and end ot every class, The little tests we did not pass, The times our thoughts were held so well, Then the sudden ringing ot the bell. The crowning ot the Icing and queen, Our campus which we Icept so clean: The highlights ot each high-school year, Our tavorite class, our tavorite cheer. These treasures we'll always hold dear, For in our mem'ries they will appear. So we bid a tond tarewell, To the school in which we long have dwelled. FOOTBALL The I946 Varsity Football Team made a splendid record this year by conquering all opponents except Saluda and Langley-Bath, the latter whom they ted, Employing exceptionally good running plays, pass- es, and time detensive strategy, the I946 edition ot the Yellow Jackets rolled over Graniteville, Edge- tield, Aiken, Lower Richland, and Richmond Academy ln the tirst game ot the season, the Jackets warmed up with their old rival, the Graniteville Rocks gaining a I4 to 7 victory. North Augusta kept the action in their opponents' territory through- out the game and both ot our touchdowns carne on passes. ln the second tilt the Gold and Black brought their guns to bear on the powertul Saluda eleven. This heavy tast experienced team deteated a tighting Jacket team to the tune ot 25-O. Because ot their strong line and outstanding back- tield North Augusta registered a 32 to O victory over Edgetield l-ligh. This game showed up the Jackets' accurate passing and broken tield running. An exciting run was made by Harry McNair who zigzagged 55 yards tor a touchdown. Qther touch- downs were made by l-looton and Jones with bril- liant passes trom Earl Baynham to Louis McNair. The Jackets rornped to a 34 to O victory over the Aiken Terrors who had not been scored upon this season. N. A. scored in every period but the third in which their strong line held the Terrors at a standstill. The highlight ot the game occurred when left end, Louis McNair, caught a pass at midtield and scampered through the Aiken team tor a tally. The touchdowns were made by Tommy Jones, Earl Baynham, Louis McNair, and l-larry McNair. The annual clash with Langley-Bath, which every- one looks to as an outstanding event ot the year, was battled to a scoreless deadlock. The game was played between the 30-yard stripes, since both lines were holding tightly. Long kicks kept the ball trorn scoring positions: and because the teams could not gain much by ground, they both took to aerial attacks. Though North Augusta expected a hard-tought en- counter with Lower Richland, it turned out to be an easy victory. The Yellow Jackets cut loose in the second quarter with a scoring attack and won by a tally ot 40 to O. Louis McNair was the out- .m-gag, A.. A A A A,.. A A ,QW A.-- A A... , , 1,-v - Y.M.C.A.
