north Attleboro is proud of its well- developed sports program. The first football team was organized in 1921 at HAHS. In the sixties the Red Rocketeers joined the Hockomock League. Baseball and football provided the biggest interest in the early years. Competition was lively, as witnessed by the 66 football, school-sponsored. Thanksgiving Day games against Attleboro. Basketball often dominated in the sixties. In the seventies Federal law and social demands accounted for the emergence of girls ' sports, giving them the chance to compete interscholastically. Girls ' track and basketball have become teams to be reckoned with. Discipline for mind and body makes sports a common meeting ground for boys and girls.

Captained by Chris Roche and Steve Connolly, the Rocketters made their presence felt in the Hockomock League. They beat every team except for Canton. The year was highlighted by a victory over League champion King Philip early in the season. Iron man Brad Blackburn led an inexperienced pitching staff by compiling five wins. The crafty right-hander baffled opposing hitters with his curveball and knuckler. The team also did not lack for hitting. Power hitters Matt Cody, Steve Connolly and Tom Murphy combined for four home runs, as they drove in table setters Chris Roche, Mike Inglese, Tim Kelly, Scott DiFiore and Keith Meyer. The team completed a fine competitive season with a 7-9 record in the League and 7-13 overall. Jim Kentros hopes to get the ball to first in a hurry.
