PAIRanoia Is it love? A crush? Ask Dear Abby. Or better yet, ask your best friend to ask the desired object’s best friend. From that first freshman obsession (usually with an unattainable senior), to your last senior fling, love, passion and romance are on every student’s (and Mr. Sanford’s) mind. No one is immune — Cupid’s arrow strikes us all at one time or another. Everyone, it seems, is looking to be one-half of a couple. Some have been “going out” for years. They’re the ones you see kissing in the hallway and wearing each other’s class rings. Others go merrily from person to person — a week here, a month or two there, a few casual dates at a party. They make themselves the perennial topic of conversation among friends who apparently have nothing else to talk about: are they still dating? Didn’t I see her holding hands with just last week? I heard they — well you know at Chris’ party. It continues perpetually. Of course there are also those you see mooning over unrequited love, carrying a torch for some uncaring soul for what seems to be forever. However it happens, and its sure to happen, that first love, crush, or futile obsession will be remembered every time you look back on the golden days of high school.

TAKE A WALK Clowns speaking Spanish, dinosaurs studying psychology, and devils reading Shakespeare were not uncommon sights on October 30 at the high school. Halloween spirit abounded as pumpkins, caveman and ghouls swamped the cafeteria, posing candidly for photographs and eating some scary-looking lunches!
